Multiple GRAMMY Award winners Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak have just released an amazing track “Skate”. In the summertime vacation-vibe video created by Bruno Mars and Florent Déchard, and co-directed by Philippe Tayag, the dynamic duo serenade a sleek skate gang. In just two weeks since its debut, the video has received over 30 million views on YouTube.

In an interview with Bruno Mars and Apple, he claimed that the song was produced as part of a studio thinking exercise. “I and the team were thinking about what if we were performing in the middle of a roller rink, what would that baseline be doing?” he told Zane Lowe. “What would the guitar be doing? What would the drums be talking about? And I wanted to play congas and that’s what you get. You get a song called “Skate”. Talking about I’m trying to float. I’m trying to glide.”

The disco-sounding track arrived months after Silk Sonic’s debut single “Leave the Door Open,” which accumulated the spot of the Best Group at the 2021 BET Awards. The group’s first single topped the charts on the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent two non-consecutive weeks at number one and 18 weeks in the top 10. They performed “Leave the Door Open (Live)” three times at the GRAMMY® Awards, the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and the BET Awards, serenading crowds each time.

The popular single “Leave the Door Open” was released alongside an official music video directed by Mars and Florent Déchard, which has amassed over 368 million views and counting. The track was quickly followed by a viral social media campaign, #LetSilkSonicThrive, which received immediate critical praise. What’s fresh, silky smooth on the ears, and contains two R&B stars?” Silk Sonic was described as “a groovy duo” by Billboard, while the track was described as “lounge at its heart.” The consequence of Sound wrote “Mars has a voice like a liquid whip…Paak raps and sings through a foggy haze. They sound like smoke on the water.”

In 2021, Bruno Mars assisted in the launch of SelvaRey, a premium rum label and lifestyle brand, with a campaign called “Tropical Luxury, Wherever You Are”. As a part of the campaign, Mars developed a commercial and jingle for SelvaRey as part of the promotion, which immediately accumulated millions of views online. Mars has also recently released his first lifestyle apparel line, Ricky Regal, in collaboration with Lacoste. Visit for additional details.

ABOUT SILK SONIC: Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars visited Europe together on the 24k Magic World Tour in 2017, which sparked the idea for the collaboration. A late-night jam session on the road was all it took to ignite the duo’s instant connection. Bruno contacted Anderson just before COVID took over the globe, saying, “Remember that idea we had back in 2017?” Let’s get started.” A single studio session turned into a months-long collaboration, creating the “setlist of doom” was born. Silk Sonic was inaugurated by legendary Bootsy Collins, who served as the “special guest host” for An Evening with Silk Sonic, their debut album, which is rumoured to be released this year.
